Metrolink operated its final special trains for the year to the Festival of Lights at Riverside’s Mission Inn Hotel and Spa on December 15. The special service included stops throughout Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties during the past four weekends.

While winter is a great time to cozy up with a book or binge-watch your favorite shows, it is also the perfect time to explore southern California. Check out these five destinations for winter fun. These family-friendly spots are easy to access using Metrolink trains from Riverside County.

Keeping its promise to commuters, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) recently made improvements to State Route 91 and Interstate 15 to improve the entrance and exit points to the 91 Express Lanes.  RCTC is continuing to develop additional improvements.

On Friday, Dec. 7, the City of Riverside and the Southern California Association of Governments’ (SCAG) Go Human campaign will encourage visitors to walk to the Festival of Lights from the Downtown Riverside Metrolink Station to experience Illuminate Riverside.

Put down that video game controller, bundle up, and hop on the bus for fun destinations around Riverside County. This winter break, the Riverside Transit Agency is offering all students, from elementary school to high school, 25-cent fares aboard any bus.

Metrolink will make attending the 26th Annual Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn in Riverside more fun and convenient by offering special trains from Nov. 23 through Dec.15.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission will be conducting partial closures of the 91 Express Lanes and general use lanes for three to four upcoming weekends, starting tonight.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission issued a Request for Qualifications to consulting firms on November 7, 2018 to begin studies for a proposed extension of the Interstate 15 Express Lanes between Cajalco Road in Corona and State Route 74 (Central Avenue) in Lake Elsinore.

Commuters in southwestern Riverside County now have another option for carpooling and vanpooling, with the opening of the City of Temecula’s new Park and Ride Lot at 30100 Temecula Parkway on November 5.

Construction is under way for canopies and windscreens at Metrolink stations along the 91/Perris Valley Line.
