The Point: New Canopies and Windscreens to Offer Relief from Weather
Construction is under way for canopies and windscreens at Metrolink stations along the 91/Perris Valley Line, including the Riverside-Hunter Park Station, Moreno Valley-March Field Station, and Perris-South Station, with completion expected in late November.
The new structures will offer protection from sun, rain and wind for passengers waiting to board trains at these stations. The Perris-Downtown Station, which is part of the Perris Transit Center, has covered canopies.
The metal and glass structures were not built as part of the 91/Perris Valley Line, due to funding requirements at the time of construction. A federal grant is providing funding for the installation of the canopies and windscreens at the three stations.
